Margherita Soldati will teach three different forms of making colorful bioplastics: very hard (almost stone-like) to flexible and elastic. Bioplastic, which is 100% biodegradable, could be an alternative sustainable raw material to use instead of synthetic fabrics or other media in the creating artwork. They are better for the environment because they are not derived from petroleum. In exploring the use of bioplastics we learn to perceive and approach textile art differently. After creating the bioplastics, we will explore how to utilize them in creating varying textures and 3D patterns in textiles. We will also learn how fabric can be used as a mold in creating new shapes.
Thus, before the Bioplastics workshop it is suggested to combine this class with ‘Fabric Manipulation‘. What you create in the Fabric Manipulation workshop will be utilized in Making Bioplastics for Textiles.
If you sign up for both workshops you will receive a €10 discount.
